As a Participant
Scientific studies could not take place without participants, both healthy ‘controls’ – individuals who are of the same sex and age and who are not experiencing any health issues – as well as those experiencing the condition being studied.
We are very grateful to our study participants for enabling us to pursue our goals in exercise medicine.
Please select from the studies listed below for more information on the study and the criteria for participation.

Postdoctoral Fellows
Postdoc fellows are at a stage of transition from trainee to independent investigator or to a career outside of academia. CHEMP offers a unique training environment to foster professional development and achievement in pediatric exercise medicine and science.
If you are interested in a Postdoctoral fellowship, please contact Dr. Brian Timmons at timmonbw@mcmaster.ca or Dr. Joyce Obeid at obeidj@mcmaster.ca
Graduate Students
Graduate students are essential to a productive research program. At CHEMP, graduate students are enrolled in either the Department of Kinesiology in the Faculty of Science or the Medical Sciences Graduate Program in the Faculty of Health Sciences. Our graduate students compete for external funding opportunities and participate in local, national, and international conferences. Graduate students in CHEMP are exposed to a variety of measurement tools and techniques and learning opportunities.
If you are interested in learning more about this opportunity, please contact Dr. Brian Timmons at timmonbw@mcmaster.ca or Dr. Joyce Obeid at obeidj@mcmaster.ca.
Undergraduate Students
Undergraduate students are attracted to the CHEMP Lab from a variety of programs, including Kinesiology, Health Sciences, Life Sciences, Integrated Science and Psychology, Neuroscience and Behaviour, to name a few. Generally in third or fourth year of their undergraduate program, these students can choose to participate for academic credit, or to volunteer with us to learn more about research and exercise science. Undergraduate students are trained by both our Graduate students and our Faculty, and are exposed to a variety of learning opportunities, from different measurement tools and techniques to lab etiquette and research methodology.
If you are interested in learning more about this opportunity, please contact Dr. Brian Timmons at timmonbw@mcmaster.ca or Dr. Joyce Obeid at obeidj@mcmaster.ca.
As a Collaborator
As a unique research program in Canada, we value collaborations and partnerships with scientists, clinicians, industry, and community members. Our wide range of expertise, technical skills, state-of-the-art facilities, and talented trainees provide an excellent environment to build meaningful relationships with like-minded colleagues.
If you are interested in collaborating with the CHEMP Lab on a study, please contact Dr. Brian Timmons at timmonbw@mcmaster.ca or Dr. Joyce Obeid at obeidj@mcmaster.ca.
