CHEMP graduate students wow the crowds at Soapbox Science 2024!
Four grad students from CHEMP travelled to the RBG in Burlington to present some fun and interactive science at this year’s Soapbox Science! PhD Candidate, Maddy Byra, PhD student, Megan Lo, and Master’s students, Leili Hadayeghi and Sarah DaSilva, engaged with children and families from around the Hamilton region. From watching colour changes caused by simple chemical reactions, to measuring heartrate changes from exercise, these students made science fun and entertaining for the attendees, young & old.
Soapbox Science is a novel public outreach platform for promoting women and non-binary scientists and the science they do, with events occurring around the world. This year’s event was co-organized by CHEMP doctoral student, Elyse Letts, with students from McMaster, Brock and U of Guelph participating.
