CHEMP doctoral student presents at Sherman Centre for Digital Scholarship event!
CHEMP PhD student, Elyse Letts, concluded her residency at the Sherman Centre for digital Scholarship with a presentation on her research project. Elyse began her eight-month residency in October, 2024, with the goal of developing a publicly-available tool to assess toddler physical activity using machine learning, without needing any technical coding experience. Her presentation showcased the latest version of her new open-source tool.

Elyse is a PhD student in Medical Sciences at McMaster University with the Child Health & Exercise Medicine Program, working under the supervision of Dr. Joyce Obeid. Her research focuses on improving physical activity and sedentary time measurement in toddlers as well as investigating the impact of physical activity on toddler health outcomes. Prior to joining McMaster, she completed an undergraduate degree (BSc) in Kinesiology at the University of Waterloo.
