CHEMP members attended the NASPEM 2024 meeting in Kentucky!

In August, CHEMP members Dr. Brian Timmons, PhD student Elyse Letts, and visiting Brazilian PhD candidate Joao Antonio Chula, travelled to Louisville, Kentucky, to attend this year’s North American Society for Pediatric Exercise Medicine Biennial Conference and present some of their research. It was a great road trip, with only a brief Brazilian photo shoot at the US border. Phew!

Elyse won best oral presentation for her presentation entitled: “Influence of Epoch on Machine Learning Models to Detect Physical Activity and Sedentary Time from a Hip-Worn Accelerometer in Toddlers”, while Brian had the pleasure of introducing the Oded Bar-Or Memorial Lecture speaker, Dr. Bareket Falk from Brock University, and Joao presented a poster of his thesis research.

There was even time for a visit to the Kentucky Horse Park and a little tutelage on how best to place wagers at the track. It was a great week of science and fun!
