CHEMP roadtrip to Montreal for CSEP ’24!
From November 20th to 23rd, members of CHEMP attended the annual meeting of the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology held in Montreal, QC. First up was Megan Lo who presented her Masters research from the University of Waterloo as part of the Graduate Student Poster Awards. Her talk was entitled: No effect of sex on IMCL utilization during high intensity interval exercise despite differences in IMCL storage characteristics. The next day saw 3 members present. Sara Da Silva delivered an oral presentation entitled: Assessing aerobic fitness in youth with cystic fibrosis receiving Trikafta® therapy. In the same session, Sam Morin presented her oral communication entitled: Movement behaviours & wellbeing in youth with inflammatory bowel disease. Later in the day, Brian Timmons participated in a Symposium called “Climate Change Concerns: Should we let the kids out?”. Brian presented on pediatric exercise science considerations in relation to climate change. To wrap things up on Friday, Elyse Letts presented her poster entitled: Comparison of cut-points and a novel machine learning model to detect toddler physical activity from a hip-worn accelerometer.
CSEP was a great conference, offering time to spend with new and old friends. Our CHEMP members made sure there was a strong pediatric voice!
